Chandra Houston’s reputation as the consummate problem solver has been proven time and time again in her professional and voluntary endeavors.  She brings the strategic focus, vision and mature judgment garnered from a successful career as business executive and commercially-oriented legal counselor that continues to generate sustained positive outcomes.

As the founder and chief executive of Gluvana Gluten-Free Foods, Ms. Houston combines her years of business and legal leadership with her strategic prowess to lead this emerging company into a new market segment within the food and beverage industry.  Houston’s understanding of the nuances of a business-to-business platform enables her to quickly design and implement plans to facilitate operating growth and improvements.  Equally important, Chandra’s personal dietary needs contribute to the conceptualization and implementation of product design and differentiation strategies that render a competitive advantage adding to the company’s overall health.

Prior to launching Gluvana, Chandra served on the executive leadership team with Georgia-Pacific’s North American Consumer Products Division where as Director of Compliance she led and established the division’s first compliance and ethics program across the 5 businesses that comprised the division, including  22 operating facilities and over 14,000 employees in the US and Mexico.  Earlier, Chandra served as Senior Division Counsel, mainly supporting the GP Professional/B2B business and later, each one of the other businesses of the division.  As a member of the senior management team, Attorney Houston determined and managed the legal priorities and ensured the legal sufficiency of all significant transactions on behalf of the businesses.

Chandra is an honors graduate of Georgia State University.  Graduating in the top 10% of her class, she obtained her juris doctorate from Howard University School of Law and has practiced corporate and business law for over 20 years on behalf of both large and small public and privately held companies.

A native of Atlanta, Chandra’s concern for her community is evident in her leadership in the Old Fourth Ward neighborhood, where she served two terms as secretary of NPU-M and led an ad-hoc relational committee on behalf of the Fourth Ward Alliance Neighborhood Association.  Her work in her community helped initiate the Master Plan, the catalyst for future development of the Old Fourth Ward.

Chandra also lends her talents to non-profit organizations outside of her residential community.  Appointed by the Governor of the State of Georgia, she serves as a board member on the McPherson Implementing Local Redevelopment Authority, which is tasked with the economically sound redevelopment of the former fort.  Ms. Houston also serves as an advisory board member at Word of Faith Family Worship Center in Austell, Georgia and as a legal advisor to the board of Save Our Sons, Inc., a non-profit outreach program for underprivileged boys in Atlanta.
